Ready to embrace the heat?
As summer starts to get into the swing, it’s time to rethink our wardrobes for the new season. So what should you be picking out to keep you cool this summer and stylishly covered up during Ramadan?
Read on for some of our favourite styles and choices!
The coolest culottes
Zahra Lyla was ahead of the trend when she picked out these fab culottes from Alexander McQueen – and we think they’re a dream pick for summer. Versatile and infinitely cosy, making for the perfect combination!
Pair them with a casual tee and espadrilles or summery flat sandals for a chic but laid back look with minimum effort.
And if you need to work a smarter sense of polish in the summer months – just add a slim fitting top with heeled sandals, for an elegant and retro-inspired outfit.
The slouchy shirt dress
Shirt dresses are an absolute summer staple in our wardrobes.
Why? Because they’re one of the easiest little add-ons to throw over anything – cover up your bikini or swim suit on the way to the pool or beach, pair with cute flats and a classic tote for a coffee date , or glam them up with some seriously bedazzled accessories.
And all the while relax in a breezy, comfy, lightweight dress that looks feminine and relaxed.
Need some inspo? Take a look at the lovely Miranda Kerr – looking pretty cute in leopard print!
The classic maxi
Of course, the maxi dress has to be featured on any list of summertime cover ups. The maxi practically is summer.
And why is it such a total classic? What other wardrobe piece can have you styled up in seconds? Maxi dresses are just effortlessly versatile – with a huge choice of prints, colours and styles to choose from.
We like to go with a touch of contemporary classic though. Block shades such as jewel tones or neutrals are great foundations to wear from day to night – sparkle them up with a dramatic chain necklace or belt, or make them comfy for daytime with a feather light silk shawl to protect your shoulders from the sun.
The festival kimono
The kimono is one of the biggest trends of the summer, and as a cover up, we kind of like it! Just perfect for the month of Ramadan.
A huge hit at music festivals around the globe – they’ve got that perfectly dreamy boho-vibe going on, and look wonderfully effortless to pull off too.
Throw on a vintage-inspired floral print kimono over your favourite denim cut offs and tee shirt for a fresh and youthful look – or for an outfit that’s a little more luxed up, choose a floor-grazing length, and cinch at the waist with a super-skinny belt to accentuate your waist.
Kimonos are all about bringing a little touch of exoticism, so don’t be afraid to embrace colourful florals, shimmying tassels or bohemian embroidered details!
