3 Essential Tips to Stay Beautiful While You Travel

We love getting on a plane and heading out to explore new sights and experiences!

That feeling of being tired, run-down and frazzled by the time you get through Arrivals, though?

Not so much.

Whether you’re nipping off for a short city break or going in for the long haul to somewhere exotic and fabulous, check out these essential tips. They’ll help you look – and feel amazing – even when you’re 10,000 feet in the sky!

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

Here’s a really important tip that every flight attendant knows.

Water is the most important beauty aid of all, especially when you’re travelling.

Plane air is notoriously dry. There’s very little moisture in the environment, and air is being recycled constantly. Which leaves you feeling dried out and dehydrated on the outside – and sluggish and run down on the inside.

So hydrate yourself, inside and out. Try to drink around 2 litres of water during the day of travel (not in one go, obviously!). And to keep your skin feeling fresh and supple, throw in a little mist spray – lightly scented rose water is gorgeously fragrant, and keeps you feeling moisturised.

Always carry SPF

You can never underestimate the importance of SPF – especially when you’re travelling.

But did you know that you should also have it on during your flight, too?

This is especially the case for those sitting in window seats. If you love gazing out at the fluffy clouds below you,  then you should also bear in mind that you’re facing greater exposure to the sun’s rays. So make sure you keep some travel-sized SPF with you at all times!

Stay clean

An absolute must-have for your beauty travel kit?

Towelette wipes, and hand sanitizer.

Seriously. Those wipes will be a life-saver when you’re desperate to freshen up and can’t find a bathroom within a 10 mile radius.

And the sanitizer is just good common sense to stay clean and hygienic while travelling. With thousands of people sharing the same space as you while you travel, it’s inevitable that there are going to be a lot of germs around.

And this is especially important if you’re likely to touch up or re-apply your make up while you’re on the go.

Go for nudes

You might love a beautiful and bright manicure when you’re at home – but what do you choose when you’re going away?

We recommend going for a nude, natural look and one of our favourite shades is Essie’s Jazz, a neutral creamy beige taupe colour. This is really versatile, and helps you to stay looking polished and put together, without looking overly outlandish. Remember that if you’re visiting a new country, you could be dealing with different cultural attitudes – and what feels fun and funky at home might not go down quite so well elsewhere!

Better to err on the side of classy and elegant, we think.
