It’s the festive season of lights with gatherings aplenty and social events taking over your calendar – we’ve got eight ways you could keep your Makeup lasting longer this Diwali.
1. Clean canvas
Start with squeaky clean skin – get rid of any extra oils and dirt for flawless makeup. For good Makeup you need to make sure you’ve exfoliated your skin at least twice a week, and if you’re getting any of the Fabulous Facials make sure you wait at least 24 hours before applying any cosmetics.
2. Fresh face
If you’ve got evening events, give your skin a rest and keep it clear of Makeup all day. Stick to moisturised skin, SPF and a bit of mascara or better yet opt for Enchanging Eyes and Brilliant Brows which will give your face that definition with gorgeous brows and fluttery lashes – perfect for a fresh day look and you can glam it up by night with added Makeup.
3. Prime time
Using the right primer helps keep Makeup on longer acting like a bond. It’s the perfect base for seamless foundation application that you see on red-carpets and celebrities. Look for one that blurs any pores and imperfections too.
4. Find the foundation
Creating the perfect complexion is the key to being photogenic this Diwali. Make sure your foundation doesn’t have a flashback when taking a picture. Look for a foundation that doesn’t have a SPF formula for night time as the ones formulated with SPF create a dreaded white cast.
5. Set it stone
Setting powders are an absolute essential to keep Makeup in place. Liquid foundations and cream concealers tend to crease and fade away but with a powder, not only do you get a matte complexion but your make-up will be set in place and won’t budge while you dance away and celebrate all night.
6. All day all night
It’s so important to pick products that promise long-wear and full coverage tool. Your creamy lipsticks won’t last through Diwali dinners unless you tap on some setting powder. Instead opt for a liquid lipstick as they have better staying power and don’t really need to be set. Make sure before you apply the lipstick – your lips are exfoliated and moisturised so they don’t get chapped through the night. When it comes to shadow and eyeliner too – pick a formula that is budge-proof so you don’t need to keep touching up.
7. Lock it in
Once your Makeup is done – spritz your face with a Makeup setting spray which is essentially acts like a hairspray but for your face. It will keep your make-up intact and won’t make it look cakey.
8. Party bag
Despite all the steps to keep your Makeup immaculate – it’s always a good idea to pack for emergencies! Keep your lipstick on you to touch up just before a selfie moment, blotting paper to remove any excess oils that may resurface and pressed powder to cover up any make-up that might have rubbed off and if you have extra space – bring along a lip and cheek tint that can multitask as lipstick and blush.
